The Naked Bike Ride Gains Support

As reported previously, San Diego’s inaugural naked bike ride has already run into legal woes. The organizers of the Naked Bike Ride have stated that:

The San Diego Naked Bicycle Ride is filing a petition with the federal court requesting exemption from the San Diego Nudity Ordinance. We will announce the judge’s decision at the beginning of the ride. If we lose, then women must cover their nipples, and everyone must cover their genitalia and natal cleft (butt crack). If we win, everyone may ride as ‘bare as you dare’.

In response to both the city’s nudity ordinance and in support of the message of the ride, at least once business has stepped up to the plate to offer discounts and freebies.

Dave Gittleson, store manager of The Crypt located at Park Boulevard and University Avenue, emailed us  to announce their support to the ride and its participants. The Crypt specializes in offering a wide selection of adult products. Gittleson intends to be at the starting location (5th and Quince) at 3PM on June 12th to hand out liquid latex and paint and offer assistance. The Crypt will be offering pasties to all women for no charge. In addition, the store will be offering 25% off of any “cover up” items to anyone participating in the ride. All you have to do is mention the ride and The Crypt will give 25% off of the items.
