Teamwonderbike Ride Tonight

Team Wonderbike
Team Wonderbike

An invitation from Michael Craft at New Belgium:

...because all of us like to ride bikes, and all of us should hang out, and all of us should be members of Team Wonderbike (Team Wonderbike is a group effort trying to get more people out of their cars and onto their bikes, check it out here www.teamwonderbike.com).  So what I want to do is this: The Team Wonderbike Bicycle Ride of Destiny.  On Thursday night (the 1st of October) at 7pm let's meet in Balboa Park (6th and El Prado) and have ourselves a bike ride.  We will cruise through your streets and have a real good time, we will make new friends and chat with them, we will finish (after an hour or so) at an account and have some beers together, it will be fun, I promise.  So let’s do it, let’s hang out, lets ride bikes, bring all of your friends (seriously, all of them so spread the word), and lets tell the world bikes are awesome and more people should ride them.

Please be prepared to Ride Right: we are pro bike not anti-car.  This is no critical mass ride, bring your smile and ring your bell...

Upcoming fun rides

Every San Diego cyclist can be busy every single day from sunrise to sunset just doing various group rides around San Diego County. But what are some of the highlights?

San Diego's August Critical Mass. Photo by Arturo Viazcan
  • Tonight (September 25): Critical Mass - With the number of riders regularly climbing into the 1000s the past few months, it is easily the most popular ride in San Diego. Meet at the large fountain at the Balboa Science center at 7PM. Be ready to ride approximately 20 miles. Have fun, be nice and and encourage all pedestrians and car drivers you meet to join you next month.
  • Sunday (September 27): You can start your Sunday right by joining the friendly, conversationally paced Down Townies Ride.
  • Tuesday (September 29):  Social Group Ride to Padres Dodger Game - Meet at 5:30 PM at 2606 Adams Avenue and ride to see Padres take on the LA Dodgers in one of their final games of the season.

For more details on the rides listed above, please check the  San Diego bicycle events calendar. If you do attend the events and take pictures, feel free to send them to us or join our flickr pool and we'll pick pictures and post them here.
Happy riding!

Park(ing) Day 2009 in San Diego

Did you know Park(ing) Day happened here in San Diego on September 18? Well, it did, in Little Italy. Maybe next year there could be a stronger presence from the bicycling community. I'm thinking a bike kitchen-themed park where people could get air in tires, brakes adjusted, flats changed, etc. How about that? You've got 360 days to think of better ideas, starting...now.

Bic Control has a post about this year's event, so does SignOnSanDiego. There's even a video.
