* Los Penasquitos Canyon Loop Los Penasquitos Canyon Loop

Here's mixed terrain loop to ride on February 4th. The route so far is pretty basic. North Park to the west end of Los Penasquitos Canyon via Rose Canyon and possibly the dirt trail from Eastgate to Roselle, then the canyon to 395, then down 395 or some other more fun way back to North Park. I figure it is in the 50 mile range. I’d love to have company along the route if anyone is interested. I’ll be riding my cyclcross bike, knobbies would be recommended. More details at the link

Market Street, Funky Garcia's has built a following in the few years they've been open, while still paying homage to their location. Built in the 1870s, the Sun Cafe inhabited this building since 1920, and had to be one of the best classic diners in town. Now however, we're talking buck tacos and two buck Tecates.

* Valentines Singles rideValentines Singles ride

Time: 7:45 pm

Don't have a sweetie pie who likes to pedal around, not to worry! San Diego County Bicycle Coalition and Moment Cycle Sport are teaming up for a Valentine Singles social ride to help find you a squeeze that likes to put the fun between their legs, er, I mean ride bikes silly!! :) We are still looking for 1-2 members to help the organizers herd cats and go along with them on the ride. They promised those with a spirit of volunteerism pick of the litter from what I heard but it should be a fun event none the less. I don't know if I will be there, because I am not single last time I checked, and my sweetie does like to pedal. However I figured it might be a nice event to meet a special someone whom shares your enthusiam for social cycling and fun! Ride will also benefitour friends over at the SDCBC with a donation. Please let me know if you would like to represent the Urban Bike and Social Club for this event and I will make you the host. Should be a fun even and hopefully we will be well represented and happy hunting!!

This Valentine's Day, have your partner say "You shouldn't have", and really mean it. Rolling away from the fountain 6ish, we'll be enjoying the "Tour de Upas" before passing through the neighborhoods of NoPark, SoPark, and Golden Hill before descending into Downtown. You'll earn your stripes on this one, with a series of short climbs (remember overall, it's downhill!). Rewarded with a paved, tree covered trail, another pedestrian bridge, and a park-side bike path, nobody is left behind. Oh... the other rewards are dollar tacos and two buck Tecates.

* Nathan Fletcher Meet and GreetNathan Fletcher Meet and Greet

Time: 8:00 am

Here is an opportunity to talk to Mayoral Candidate Nathan Fletcher and express what you’d like to see from a bicycle friendly mayor Fletcher intends to release a comprehensive bike plan policy soon along with his vision and the specific steps he will take to ensure that San Diego becomes the world’s best city for bicycling. But it is important to talk to him about what it is that San Diego is lacking so he is aware of all the issues that we face on the streets everyday. I believe this election could be a game changer in how San Diego’s elections will be from this year onward. For too long, the bicycling demographic has simply been ignored. At this point in history we have a lot of catching up to do, and I believe we need a visionary leader to take us there. It seems like Nathan Fletcher could be that leader. I’d like to hear your thoughts in person this Saturday and I’m sure Fletcher would too.

* Fish Taco TuesdayFish Taco Tuesday

Time: 5:45 pm

Ready for your last meal before lent? Jeremy and I were thinking it could be fun to blaze yet another new path over to Mitch's (located at the fishing docks), for some "fresh-as-it-gets" fish tacos. Once we're grabbing a bite, we can decide as a group which Mardi Gras fest we want to check out. Whether it's downtown or Hillcrest, we'll go with the flow. Laissez les bon temps rouler! Chime in and let us know if you have some ideas. Should be interesting, different, and of course... wear some beads and bring a friend!
