Creating a walkable downtown in Oceanside

Posted By on January 4, 2010

Oceanside, a seaside community in North San Diego County, is making great strides in making their downtown more walkable. The North County Times is reporting that Oceanside’s planners want visitors to “to get out of their cars to shop and dine and make it so people who live nearby feel comfortable taking an evening stroll through downtown.”

Oceanside’s planners want more input from the residents and have scheduled a public workshopfrom 6 – 8PM this Thursday (January 7, 2010) at the main library community room located at 330 N. Coast Highway.

Inspiration for Oceanside comes from a community south of Oceanside in Bird Rock where traffic calming measures have resulted in a boom to businesses.
