Community Meeting on Pershing Drive and Redwood Street Intersection Solutions

When: Monday, November 16, 2009, 6:00pm to 7:30pm.

Where: Trinity United Methodist Church, 3030 Thorn Street (corner Thorn & Grim)

What: The City of San Diego will hold a second community meeting to discuss Pershing Drive improvements at the Redwood Street and Jacaranda intersections and at the Balboa Park Disc Golf parking lot entrance. The meeting will explain how community suggestions will be integrated into long-term improvements for residents, drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians who use this section of Pershing Drive.

  1. Arghh! This intersection, while it does need improving for cyclists on Pershing Dr NB, isn’t the only issue along this road. The sharp curve at the top of the grade from Florida/26th has a lot of drivers in the bicycle lane, not to mention the overly fast speed of the roadway. Make it less of an expressway through Balboa Park, and more like the “drive” it is labeled as.

    I agree with Michael. While I don’t think the strangeness of the intersection has ever hindered my on a bike (I actually like it), the direction and seed of auto traffic does bring danger.
